Originally hailing from the South West Midlands, Laurie Wright is a guitar driven, rock n roll juggernaut who has quickly scaled the heights of the live music scene over the last few years. Picking up a guitar at the age of 14 then moving to London at 19, Laurie worked hard to hone his songwriting skills and now has over 300 songs under his belt.

Forming in 2020, Laurie’s band started busking in Camden and within two years had amassed an impressive following of loyal fans. The release of their first album, “Get On The End Of It” in 2023 was soon followed by a sold out show at the Camden Underworld. The album spawned tracks such as “West End Lover”, “Butter Side Up Boy” and “Wendy McKenzie”, solidifying Laurie as a creator of songs that are both powerful and emotive with a strong sense of storytelling, reminiscent of his big musical influences, The Kinks and The Small Faces.

2024 saw the band’s fanbase expand exponentially and, whilst writing and recording a second album, the band embarked on a sold-out regional tour across the UK in the spring and secured support slots with The Rifles and the Libertines (both of whom Laurie counts as key musical influences). Laurie and the band continued to sharpen their live performance with legendary full band busking sessions on the busy streets of Camden Town and around London.

“We’re Only Warming Up”, the band’s sophomore album, was released in autumn. Building on Laurie’s innate narrative songwriting ability, the album captured the subtle nuances of his music with brilliantly crafted songs, flaunting guitar riffs that emanated both high energy and rampageous swagger, coupled with melodic and harmonious sinew that leave you wanting more.

The band’s relentless desire to scale the echelons of the music scene was realised in November with an electrifying sell-out gig at Scala in Kings Cross, performing to a raucous capacity crowd of 800. A week later, Laurie and band embarked on a successful 3,000 mile, 14 date sell-out European tour, bringing 2024 to a triumphant close. 2025 promises to be an even bigger year for Laurie and the band!
